Oliver Bönsch

Wine is…

  • Sociability: A successful evening, a good feeling.
  • Connection: With nice people, a good conversation.
  • Fun: Experimenting, enjoying.

I inherited my love of enjoyment. As a child, I eagerly sampled and explored all the products in my father’s delicatessen. As a teenager, it was mostly beer. I was always the one who showed up with a bottle of wine. That made it clear. Training as a food retail specialist for the basics, then studies in retail management for the theoretical foundations. The sommelier training in Heidelberg was the completion of my education. Internationally, I was able to actively help shape winemaking in South Africa and Italy and gather experiences and stories around wine.

For more than twenty years, I have been self-employed with the company Bönsch-Weine. The goal is to create tailored wine and culinary experiences for our customers. This ranges from a wine tasting in a cosy setting at home to hosting large wine tastings with a few hundred people for corporate clients.

Wine is not elitist or forced. A good bottle, a few olives with baguette, and off to the next picnic blanket. Simply enjoying wine and the pleasure it brings – that is what we want to convey. Whether we organise a wine trip or deliver an incentive for our corporate clients. The same applies to training for the hospitality industry or advising on the right wine list: it has to fit individually. To the dish, the region, the target group, or the people who pass on the knowledge. Tailor-made, in other words.

Yours sincerely, Oliver Bönsch
