The FuW Wine Connoisseur Diploma® with IHK Certificate

Seminar Format

Multi-stage Continuing Education Concept

What It's About

Wine experts have developed the FuW Wine Connoisseur Diploma® for the retail sector. The aim is to counteract the glaring shortage of skilled workers in food retail and beverage markets, as this further training is understood as adaptive continuing education. The target groups are temporary staff, unskilled workers, school dropouts, career changers, and re-entrants. In short, employees who are already doing a good job in the market but need to be strengthened in their workplace with regard to wine. Retail companies where wine plays a role can thus retain employees and offer their customers well-founded wine advice.

Objectives

Participants will acquire both subject-specific basic knowledge of winemaking and wine diversity, as well as skills in wine tasting, wine assessment, and
wine marketing. In a final knowledge assessment (IHK test), participants will demonstrate the acquisition of these skills and knowledge and, upon successful completion of all modules (1 - 6) and the IHK examination, will receive a nationally recognized IHK certificate for their qualification.

Content

The course consists of 6 consecutive modules, which are conducted in our training program either as individual modules or in two 3-day blocks. In the 6th module, individual retail-specific topics are taught and practiced.

Target audience

Participants will acquire both subject-specific basic knowledge of winemaking and wine diversity, as well as skills in wine tasting, wine assessment, and
wine marketing. In a final knowledge assessment (IHK test), participants will demonstrate the acquisition of these skills and knowledge and, upon successful completion of all modules (1 - 6) and the IHK examination, will receive a nationally recognized IHK certificate for their qualification.

Other

Sustainable learning, as also formulated in the United Nations' sustainability criteria, is applied. Between the two blocks, participants will be sent small knowledge assessments to prepare them for the IHK examination. Optional: an online session will be offered after the course to consolidate what has been learned through an exchange of experiences.
