The FuW Wine Connoisseur Diploma® with IHK Certificate

Seminar Format

Multi-level continuing education concept

What It's About

Wine experts developed the FuW Wine Connoisseur Diploma® for the hospitality industry. The aim is to counter the acute shortage of skilled workers in this service-intensive sector, as this training is designed as an upskilling programme. The target groups are temporary staff, untrained assistants, school dropouts, career changers and returners. In short: employees who already do a good job in the company but are to be strengthened in the workplace with regard to wine. Hospitality businesses in which wine plays a role can retain employees and offer their guests sound wine advice.

Objectives

Participants are taught both specialist basic knowledge of winemaking and wine diversity as well as skills in wine tasting, wine evaluation and
wine marketing. In a final learning assessment (IHK test), participants demonstrate that they have acquired these knowledge and skills and, after successfully completing all modules (1–6) as well as the IHK qualification, receive a nationwide recognised IHK certificate of their qualification.

Content

The programme consists of 6 consecutive modules, which are delivered in our training programme either as individual modules or in two 3-day blocks. In module 6, individual hospitality-focused topics are taught and practised.

Target audience

Participants are taught both specialist basic knowledge of winemaking and wine diversity as well as skills in wine tasting, wine evaluation and
wine marketing. In a final learning assessment (IHK test), participants demonstrate that they have acquired these knowledge and skills and, after successfully completing all modules (1–6) as well as the IHK qualification, receive a nationwide recognised IHK certificate of their qualification.

Other

Sustainable learning, as also set out in the objectives of the United Nations sustainability criteria, is applied. Between the two blocks, participants are sent short learning assessments that prepare them for the IHK qualification. Optional: after the course, an online session is offered to consolidate what has been learned through an exchange of experiences.

Instructor

At least 3 instructors are involved in the teaching, ensuring that participants learn in a varied and sustainable way and experience “the professional” for each topic focus. All instructors are integrated via the FuW e.V. organisation into regular, self-committed continuing training and excursions and are always up to date with the latest knowledge in the complex world of wine.
