1.5-Day Intensive Seminar: “German Wines”
Seminar Format
What It's About
German wines occupy the largest shelf space in your market. Their market share—compared to international sales—is 45% in volume and 47% in value. Customers often reach for uncomplicated brand-name wines. Anyone wishing to generate higher sales and contribution margins with better wine qualities needs sound specialist knowledge to be able to explain what origin and vineyard site have to do with wine stylistics. Furthermore, the wine world is changing: new labeling requirements apply, and new Landwein regions will be added in 2026. Young winemakers have new ideas, and climatic changes are giving rise to new wine styles in Germany.
Objectives
The course provides extensive basic knowledge on production, quality differences, the most important facts about vines, work steps in the vineyard and cellar, and the aging and maturation of wine. A theoretical and a practical part cover the characteristics of Germany's wine-growing regions. After an introduction to systematic wine tasting, typical representatives from selected regions are tasted, and the stylistics of the grape varieties are developed and categorized. Through one's own sensory impressions, the principles of wine typicity and the distinction from the international range become clear. This is essential for wine consulting.
