The Path to Professionalism in Beverage Retail
Seminarformat
Darum geht es
The image transfer from excellent customer advice to the diversity of product categories in a beverage retail market is crucial. But who truly knows what's on the shelves? This interactive workshop aims to provide employees with a confident overview and understanding of the beverage assortment.
Especially new employees often have no clear idea of what is truly offered at the point of sale – not in terms of individual items or brands, but regarding the contents and specific characteristics of the product categories themselves. The industry provides advertising and eye-catching placements – but what is actually in the bottle and behind the modern, often striking packaging?
How can the variety of products be meaningfully and technically correctly distinguished? Sounds complicated – but it isn't! We work according to the "lighthouse principle" and systematically address each segment. The goal is for participants to not only understand the product categories but also to actively integrate their knowledge into customer consultations.
In the first part of the training, we go directly to the sales floor, analyze selected products from each category on the shelf, and shed light on the "product range jungle." We decipher label language, clarify specific features of product designations, and classify them into a comprehensible quality system.
In the second part, we will train, using typical customer profiles and their requirements, how this knowledge can be practically applied in consultation and sales.
Zielsetzung
• Participants develop a trained eye for labels and recognize quality features at a glance.
• They learn which products warrant extra effort in consultation – also for sales.
• They know how and where to independently obtain information to make products exciting and tangible for customers.
• Optional: They can create and apply their own product descriptions or texts for social media (e.g., Instagram).
• Experience/group discussions on market-relevant topics such as inventory, deposit organization, occupational hygiene, and safety.

Notes
The training location should ideally be a beverage retail market to optimally combine theory and practice. The practical part takes place directly on the sales floor, including training units and customer consultation simulations. Stable Wi-Fi at the training location is desirable. Alternatives can be arranged individually.
Optional:
The product category focuses will be individually coordinated in advance.
Upon request, products can be used for tasting (e.g., for comparative samples). These will be provided by arrangement. The resulting costs can be calculated as a flat rate or based on consumption – either via a beverage flat rate or by charging for opened bottles as part of the fee settlement.
Why this seminar is particularly relevant:
In the beverage retail market, employees are in direct customer contact daily – whether for orientation in the assortment, recommendations, or inquiries about specific products. At the same time, the variety of beverages, brands, and quality levels is constantly growing.
The seminar supports employees in providing confident and convincing advice, actively generating additional sales, and presenting product categories in a customer-oriented manner – from wine, beer, and spirits to non-alcoholic specialties.
This transforms mere product presence into a genuine shopping experience: competently guided, sales-promoting, and service-oriented.
